Facebook

Though facebook is more popular all over the world, and I'll say I've been guilty being a member of it only because I was forced to be a member by our friends Vinh and the gang, I still find it "too complicated". There's always too much going on and too many applications and requests to do. I guess I still like the simplicity of friendster where I can see all my friends' recently uploaded photos. That's why I rarely log in to facebook thus making my life even more complicated after weeks of logging in again. Though I must admit, facebook is great compare to friendster. Maybe it's more of the new generation type of thing :)

And just recently, because of facebook, we were able to meet up again with our friend Ally. :) Maybe, I'll get used to it :)

YM

Had a nice long chat with my bespren Joey. I never realize how much I miss Joey and all our gimiks, kalokohan and kulitans slowly came back to me. And when I told him about something that's bothering me, he quote me something from our favorite show, SATC. Tenchu mars. You're the best! Can't wait to see you again! Muah!

"if i start caring about what the other bitches in manhattan are saying about me, i wouldn't leave the house" - Samantha, SATC

What to Do When Your New Job Is a Nightmare

You just started a new job. It's like a dream come true -- except when it's not. What's a professional to do when she accepts a job that seems like a living nightmare? Read on for solutions and advice from a career coach.

1. Assess the Situation (and Yourself)

There are a lot of different reasons why your new job may seem less than ideal. Perhaps your boss is a micromanager. Maybe your duties are different than what you'd thought they'd be. Or a client may have jumped ship, leaving you and your coworkers suddenly scrambling. Consider what's making you miserable before taking any kind of action.

Lynn Berger, a Manhattan-based career coach and counselor, agrees. "I think you have to really scope it out." She urges her clients, "See if there's any way you can take any self-responsibility for this. Also, ask yourself, is there a way you can grow from this? Maybe you've never worked for a boss with a particular personality type, but you may be able to deal with it over time and learn from it."

2. Open a Dialogue

If your supervisor seems happy with your performance while you're not happy in the position, it may be very easy to start a conversation about what's making you miserable. She may be willing to shift your responsibilities or provide you with additional support.

If your boss seems displeased, it can be a bit more difficult, says Berger, a member of the International Coach Federation. "You've still got to open a dialogue, and the earlier the better." She urges dissatisfied employees to talk to management, saying, "Get clear on what you need from them and what they need from you."

Are you without the proper tools and support to do your job? "Throw it out there to your boss and see if he will help. You have to let people know what you need," advises Berger, a graduate of Columbia University.

If you can't talk to your boss because she's the root of your problem, Berger says, "Check it out with other people you work with. Watch how they're handling this person. And if you find out from coworkers that everyone else who's had this position has been out of there in three months, that could be very revealing."

3. Patience Is a Virtue

When Berger works with clients who fear they've made a mistake in accepting a new job, she reminds them, "It takes three to six months until you're comfortable in a new job. There are going to be growing pains, especially if you haven't started a new job in a long time."

New job starters, she says, should be prepared for a bit of anxiety as they roll up their sleeves and dig in to a new position. "It's overwhelming! You're going to be exhausted and you need to give yourself room around that."

While you're ramping up, "Observe as much as you can and not only learn the job, but learn about the company and the way it works, the way things are done," she says. That can go a long way in helping you feel more comfortable.

4. If You Leave...

Do you still feel like you have to leave? Berger tells workers to ask themselves, "Is this a perceived nightmare or a real nightmare? If you're a victim of verbal or physical abuse at work, no one should have to live that way."

However, even if you're not subjected to those horrors, you may still feel as though you're in a nightmarish situation. If you feel you've given it time and your best efforts, you may choose to move on. "No one should feel tortured or sick over a job," concedes Berger.

When looking for another position, you can explain your brief time in this job by saying, "I realized early on this wasn't the right situation." Berger says that job seekers should make the experience seem as positive as they can. Also, she wants professionals to learn from their mistakes. Before accepting another offer, "Ask questions. Visit the company a few times. Speak with employees there. Make sure you understand the full scope of the position and what the day-to-day will be like."

"You never want to regret that you walked away from an opportunity too quickly," Berger says. "As long as you know you gave it your best shot and tried, that's what really counts."

Question

One more month and I would face another dilemma. As if I'm not having enough in my hands right now. I'm not in a position to complain and as much as I don't want to, I really can't help but whine, rant and complain. I'm nearly loosing it but like what other normal people would do, being brave is your only way of winning in the game.

When you're in a place where you know how life's challenges have made you a better person and made you doubt about certain things together at the same time, would you stay and give it another chance? Or give yourself a pat in the back and tell yourself that it's time to move on? How would you know which one will give you a better sleep at night? How one would know which answer to a certain question will give himself a better life than where he is now?

I guess I'm just new to this place after living for six years in my comfort zone. I hope if ever I do give up, there's something better set aside just for me. And if I don't, I hope I'll get used to this very fast phase of living and earn tons of courage and strength.

Each day, we're challenged with thousands of questions that sometimes we thought we've chosen the wrong way. But eventually, things do get better. May not be at the most convenient time you realy wanted to have it but, it will come. I hope and pray that God will give it to me.

Toxic Faith And Real Faith

God, a Woman, and a Tiger

One day, a young woman went to the mountain Hermit seeking help.
“I need a potion for my husband’s depression,” she cried to him. “He came from war and doesn’t speak to me. He doesn’t listen to me. I try to caress him but he brushes me aside. I serve him food and he pushes it and angrily leaves the room. He then goes up a hill and just stares out to sea… Oh kindly sir, make me a potion so that I could give it to my husband and heal his depression!”
The Hermit closed his eyes and thought for a long while. After what seemed like a very long time, he then said to her, “I will make a special potion for your husband. But it needs a special ingredient. Get me a whisker of a live tiger.”
The woman was shocked. “Sir? I cannot get that…”
“But if you want your husband to get well, you will,” said the Hermit.
The woman ran home, prepared a bowl of food, and carried it deep in the forest—where a tiger lived inside a cave. She placed down the bowl of food at the opening of the tiger’s cave and called on the tiger. “Tiger, I brought food for you. Come and eat!”
But the tiger did not come out.
The next day, the woman came again with a bowl of food and called on the tiger to eat. But the tiger did not come out again.
She kept doing this everyday, and tiger was getting used to her voice.
After one month, the tiger would peek through the opening, but he still would not eat her bowl of food.
After two months, the tiger finally left the cave and felt secure looking at the strange woman giving him food.
After three months, the tiger would finally eat the food as the woman watched from the distance.
After four months, the woman could actually sit beside the tiger as he ate.
After five months, the woman could wrap her arms around the tiger as he ate. She was now a friend and he was totally at peace with her.
After six months, as the woman caressed the tiger and as the tiger playfully rested his head on her lap, she whispered to his ear, “I hope you won’t get angry, but I will get something from you—for my husband whom I love.” She then snipped one of his whiskers. The tiger did not even flinch.
After which, she ran to the Hermit and said, “I now have the whisker of a live tiger! Please make the potion for my depressed and angry husband…”
The Hermit took the whisker from her hand and threw it into the fire behind him.
“Nooooooo!” the woman screamed, “why did you do that?”
“You don’t need a potion,” the Hermit said, “because you are the potion to your husband.”
“I don’t understand,” the woman asked.
“What is more fierce? A tiger or a man? A tiger of course. But for six months you learned how to tame his anger. You were able to bring him out of his cave. With patience. With care. With love. Now I want you to use all that and bring your husband out of his cave and heal his depression.”

Do You Know The Difference Between Toxic Faith And Real Faith?

I share you this story because I believe that God is like that woman.
We are that tiger. We are in darkness. We are in that cave. Like that woman, God comes to us with a lot of gentleness and a bowl of food. The food of His love. The food of His grace.
He will not force us to eat His food. He will not impose His power, His rule, His authority over us. Instead, He will wait, patiently and gently, for us to learn to trust Him. Day after day, week after week, month after month—year after year.
When we are ready, He will feed us.
When we are ready, He will wrap His arms around us.
That’s the difference between Toxic Faith and Real Faith.
Toxic Faith imagines God as a Judge that condemns and forces us to follow Him, using threats and intimidation. Toxic Faith requires that His followers do the same—impose, judge, label, pull rank, and intimidate.
Real Faith is very different. It imagines God as a woman patiently waiting for the tiger to leave his cave, so she could feed him and caress him. Real Faith requires that His followers do the same—love, forgive, share, care, bless, and serve.
I choose Real Faith.
Real Faith heals my addictions. Toxic Faith worsens them.
Choose Real Faith.
I remain your friend,
Bo Sanchez

Trials and Blessings

Lately, things were happening one after another. Most were trials but became blessings eventually. I'm just glad how things are now. I'm still grateful to GOD for all the chances and blessings. I'm glad now that my sister's doing ok and our family is surviving, and my father in law is recovering now from his mild stroke just a week ago and lastly my mother side aunt who's recuperating now from her operation on her thyroid.

Yes... When it rains, it pours.

Iron Man

Been a long time since we last watch a movie. Well, a month of not watching a movie is already a long time for us. And it feels good to do something you love after a long time of not doing it. Anyway, yesterday's labor day so it's a holiday and we spent most part of our day lazying around the house and watched "IRONMAN", dinner at "Jologz" after. Sarap! Asteeg yung movie. Galing galing. I wonder how many sleepless nights the animators and creative directors spent during those times they were still establishing the movie. Sometimes movies like these are worth watching for and you know your money doesn't just go to waste. Worth every cents we spent. And i looooveee Robert Downey here. Well, if you haven't watched it, go online now and buy your tickets! In one of the trailers before the movie starts, I was so sad that Eric Bana is not the Incredible Hulk anymore :(

IRON MAN
Tony Stark is a billionaire industrialist and genius inventor who is kidnapped and forced to build a devastating weapon. Instead, using his intelligence and ingenuity, Tony builds a high-tech suit of armor and escapes captivity. When he uncovers a nefarious plot with global implications, he dons his powerful armor and vows to protect the world as Iron Man.

Ohana

With different kinds of peace in life, this is one of those times that we hated the most. When after more than a month of getting used to having your younger sister around, taking care of now two people, then suddenly not being part of the plan everything change and now you're two again. Then you have another reason to forget about that little dilemma when two kids started to run around your house, disney channel, cartoon network and nickelodeon on tv, eat-out on most nights, walking under the heat of the sun on weekends, sleeping from a big room to a smaller one, doodles on every corner of our house, a music-to-my-ear "mama faye", and a sweet kiss and hugs after long hours of work at the end of the day. But now after two weeks, the house is back to its normal state - quiet but dull. No more little reine doing her best act of "watchu doin?" which she just copied from disney channel. No more achie tugging my sleeves for McFlurry. No more chanting of "McDonalds" in the middle of the street. No more reason to buy two chupachups lollipops at the end of the day.

Well every beginning has an end. We just hope things that give us happiness won't end that soon :) Now I'm hoping that the plan of them moving here will happen in the next year or so. We'll see.

Haay, kodak moments brings you memories you wish didn't end soon :)

I am G L A D!

I love how challenging my job is. I love how each week I learn something new. I love how I improve little by little *in my opinion*. But this month has been so tough for me. I couldn't even have my lunch on time or chat with my friends. I always went home late. I couldn't spare few minutes to breathe *ok im exag here*. My heart beats faster than its normal rate each time too scared of making mistakes. I did a lot of kapalpakans but I'm thankful how my supervisor is taking it without scolding me or blaming me, instead, making me see my mistake and learn from it. BUT, this month's really exhausting for me. Maybe it's a good thing that I found reason to forget about some of my predicaments.

It may look like I'm complaining but to tell you honestly I'm not.

And right now, I'm celebrating. We were able to finish few things today and I don't have anything on my mind right now that spells w-o-r-k. Our team had a lunch out at Spageddies. Yipee! And tomorrow is holiday! And we're watching Ironman! Weeeee. Times like these it makes you taste the sweetness of a full day holiday.
